The LIFE Programme recently featured the LIFE4Fgases project on the occasion of World Ozone Day (16 September) and the 40th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol, the international treaty that marked a milestone in protecting the ozone layer.
LIFE4Fgases works to reduce the environmental impact of fluorinated gases (F-gases)—commonly found in refrigeration and air conditioning systems—through the development of an innovative Hybrid Adsorption and Membrane System (HAMSYS). This technology allows these gases to be safely, efficiently, and affordably recovered and reused, avoiding their release into the atmosphere.
Thanks to this approach, LIFE4Fgases contributes to:
✅ Protecting the ozone layer
✅ Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
✅ Promoting a circular economy in the refrigeration sector
The LIFE Programme recognized the project as a clear example of how innovation, sustainability, and circular solutions can work together to help safeguard our planet.
